KnitDesign

The KD.KnitDesign research group focuses on research and teaching projects in the knitwear sector. Since 2008, KD.KnitDesign has been conducting research projects aimed at the technical enhancement of hand knitting, the generation of textile products for clothing and home furnishings through the use of manual machines and technological innovation related to the programming of industrial machines.

The group explores the application of natural materials, man-made fibers, and bio-based materials for product development in the industry, with particular attention to sustainability. The research group carries out various researches in Textile and Knitwear Design and develops educational projects at different levels, coordinating the Final Synthesis Laboratory of the 3rd year of the Fashion Design course, one of the three fashion design specializations offered by the School of Design, and the Final Synthesis Laboratory of the 2nd year of the Master's Degree in Design for the Fashion System - Craft.

KnitDesign is also engaged in organizing workshops and short courses in collaboration with leading industry companies such as Loro Piana, Missoni, Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia, Lanecardate, Pecoranera, Cap_able, and is involved in several university Master's programs for the development of projects ranging from clothing collection creation to experimental applications of innovative fibers and materials.
