Associate Professor
Graduated in Architecture and PhD in Industrial Design, she is a full-time Associate Professor of Industrial Design at the Department of Design and the School of Design at Politecnico di Milano, where she has been teaching since 1996 in the fields of perception and visual communication.
She has authored over 130 publications, including books, articles in specialized journals (Art e Dossier, DIID, Experience, Hortus Musicus, Linea Grafica, MD Journal-Material Design, Modo, Musica Domani, Nodes, Progetto Grafico, Recrearte, Il Verri), and proceedings from national and international conferences.
Among her key publications: Sinestesie per il design (Etas, Milan, 1999; selected for the XIX Compasso d'Oro Award, 2001), Sentire il design (Carocci, Rome, 2008; reprinted in 2019), editor (with M. J. de Córdoba, E. M. Hubbard, S. A. Day) of the proceedings of the III Congreso Internacional de Sinestesia, Ciencia y Arte (Fundación Internacional Artecittà, Granada 2009), co-author (with M. J. de Córdoba et al.) of Sinestesia. Los fundamentos teóricos, artísticos y científicos (Fundación Internacional Artecittà, Granada, 2012; selected for the AWDA 2012 Award), later expanded and translated into English (2014), editor (with M. J. de Córdoba, S. A. Day, J. Julia López de la Torre, J. Jewansky) of the proceedings of the V Congreso Internacional de Sinestesia, Ciencia y Arte (Instituto de Estudio Giennenses, Jaén, 2015), editor (with M. J. de Córdoba) of five editions of an international review dedicated to Visual Music, including the most recent MuVi5. Video and moving image on synesthesia and visual music / MuVi5. She has supervised or co-supervised over 70 master's theses in Communication Design and Architecture, one PhD thesis in Industrial Design and Multimedia Communication, and two international PhD theses, for which she initiated and managed the co-curatorship agreements between Politecnico di Milano (Department of Design) and the University of Granada (Department of Drawing).
She is currently a co-advisor for an international PhD thesis (IADE Universidade Europeia, Lisbon, Portugal / Politecnico di Milano) and a member of the PhD Faculty of the Doctorate in Design at Politecnico di Milano.
