Design & Autism. An unconventional approach to inclusion through product innovation

Publication

Design & Autism. An unconventional approach to inclusion through product innovation, edited by Venanzio Arquilla and Federica Caruso, has been published by Maggioli Editore.

The book explores the intersection of design and autism through an inclusive and multidisciplinary lens. It brings together diverse perspectives, lived experiences and, most importantly, a rich collection of projects and ideas that highlight the social and cultural impact of design.

This volume presents the multidisciplinary approach taken by COmeta, a meta-design workshop developed for the second year of the Industrial Product Design degree program at the School of Design of Politecnico di Milano.

Autism, with its highly variable characteristics, provides an ideal medium for students to engage in inclusive design practices. It promotes reflective learning experiences, prompting students to strengthen their skills when confronted with real-world challenges.
