BOOKCITY MILANO 2025. Events featuring faculty and researchers from the Department of Design

BOOKCITY MILANO 2025

From November 10 to November 16, 2025

This year again, the Department of Design takes part in BOOKCITY MILANO with a series of events featuring its faculty members and researchers.

BookCity Milano is a cultural project promoted by the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Milan and by the BookCity Milano Association, which was established by Fondazione Corriere della Sera, Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli, Fondazione Umberto e Elisabetta Mauri, Fondazione Arnoldo e Alberto Mondadori, and by AIE – Italian Publishers Association.

The festival celebrates and promotes book and reading culture through a rich program of talks, book presentations, readings, exhibitions, and performances. It offers an opportunity to explore new reading practices, spanning from ancient to contemporary books, from public and private historical collections and libraries to reading as both an individual and collective experience.

The events:

Il Mirabile Artificio di Bramante: Santa Maria presso San Satiro

With Giorgio Buratti, Giampiero Mele, Michela Rossi, Pietro Cesare Marani, and Alessandra Coppa

November 12, 2025, 3:00 pm, Circolo de Amicis – Sala Piccola, Via E. De Amicis 17, Milan

Presentation of the book 'Mirabili artificio. Santa Maria presso San Satiro' by Giorgio Buratti, Giampiero Mele, and Michela Rossi (with a foreword by Pietro Cesare Marani, bilingual Italian-English edition), newly published in the 'Luoghi d’arte in Italia' series by Biblion Edizioni.

The volume offers an analytical and fascinating insight into the late 15th-century church of Santa Maria presso San Satiro, home to Bramante’s famous 'false choir' – a spatial illusion that defies the limits of real architecture. The event will be an opportunity to explore this unique place and appreciate its groundbreaking innovation.

PROJECT | Museum Seed. The Futurability of Cultural Spaces

With Mara Servetto

November 13, 2025, 7:00 pm, Migliore+Servetto Studio, Viale Col di Lana 8, Milan

Based on the manifesto 'Museum Seed. The Futurability of Cultural Spaces', by Ico Migliore and Mara Servetto, published by Electa, the talk offers a forward-looking perspective on architecture and design for cultural venues, bringing together diverse voices, disciplines, and experiences from the international scene.

The project reflects on the museum as a 'seed' capable of taking root within its urban and social context to generate new forms of interaction – envisioning a dynamic, inclusive, and sustainable cultural space.

Registration is required via Eventbrite.
