AI. Democrazia. Conoscenza

Milano Digital Week

October 3, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:15 PM, Rob de Matt, Via Enrico Annibale Butti 18, Milan

The European projects ORBIS and NEUROCLIMA, coordinated by Francesca Rizzo for the Department of Design at Politecnico di Milano, are organizing a public event to explore the role of Artificial Intelligence in the production of and access to knowledge, with particular attention to its implications for democracy and digital citizenship.

Through two roundtables, the event brings together theoretical and practical approaches, research experiences, and real-world cases:

Track 1. AI and Access to Knowledge
A critical reflection on the role of AI as a tool for mediating information. While it offers new opportunities for participation, it can also amplify inequalities and obscure decision-making processes.

Track 2. Negotiating AI: Adaptation, Scalability, and Design Tensions
An in-depth look at how to design AI systems in local contexts, addressing challenges related to their scalability, replicability, and the resulting socio-technological balances.

The event, moderated by Ilaria Mariani (ORBIS) and Beatrice Gobbo (NEUROCLIMA), is conceived as an open space for dialogue between researchers, designers, students, and citizens interested in understanding how AI can help build more transparent and inclusive democratic practices.
